Szeretettel köszöntelek bennenteket az Úr Jézus nevében!

(With love, greetings, brothers & sisters,  the Lord Jesus, in the name of)

 March 2004

Hebrews 2:9, “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.” Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords! It’s amazing how much our Saviour loves us, so much so, that he died for us! It is right to give Him praise and honor and glory! May you be filled with His presence this day, so much so that your cup runneth over!!!

Please pray – Hungary along with Eastern Europe, for the past two years, has been experiencing a very severe drought. The impact on the economy is causing many problems and difficulties for the people and the nation. Please also pray as Hungary becomes part of the EU and embraces the Euro as their currency. I am told that this could have a severe negative impact on many, causing small stores to go out of business. Please pray also about the increase of anti-Semitism that is taking place all over Europe. It is referred to as anti-Semitism without Hitler. I fear we are getting closer to the day of the return of our Lord. The Lord’s return is the blessed hope that all Christians look forward to, but woe to those who will be left behind as the Church is raptured. There is much to pray for!!

There will be a Woman’s Conference/Evangelistic outreach at Word Of Life camp in May 2004. Many books and gospel tracts from Jo Hir will be available and many will be given away free. Pray that many will come and hear the gospel.  Another Evangelistic conference will be held in September 2004 and will feature Larry Moyer, EvanTell, as their featured speaker. We are in the process of publishing EvanTell’s tract, “May I Ask You A Question”. We hope this will be in print by March of this year.

Another effort going on is the translation and publication of J. Vernon McGee’s New Testament commentaries. We are scheduled to have Galatians in print by May 2004. Please pray that the Lord will provide the finances for the publication of his other New Testament commentaries. Good Christian commentaries are scarce in Hungary and many have already requested copies of Galatians even prior to it being printed. TWA radio is helping us with this effort. We are very excited about the publication of this Galatians commentary.

Recently published was, “Don’t Forget The Children” by Alan D. George, and “Boy Meets Girl” by Joshua Harris. Soon to be published are: “The Search” by Lorna Simcox, Betrayed by Stan Telchin, “Hints On Child Training” by H. Clay Trumbull, and “Jewish Doctors Meet The Great Physician” by Ruth Rosen. Other books that are in process are: “Ask In My name & Fullness of Joy” by Gertrud Harlow, “The Evolution of a Creationist” by Jobe Martin,  “He Leadeth Me” by C.W. Slemming, and “Final Destiny” by William MacDonald.

 New Beginnings

How often we wish for another chance
To make a fresh beginning,
A chance to blot out our mistakes
And change failure into winning.
And it does not take a new year
To make a brand-new start,
It only takes a deep desire
To give God all your heart.
You’ll live so much better
He will help you be forgiving
Adding a little “Christian Love”
To the world in which we’re living.
So never give up in despair
And think that you are through,
For with God there’s still tomorrow
And a chance to start anew.

When asked the secret of her long life just before her 114th birthday, Mrs. Charlotte Benkner replied, “There is no secret, I just live each day the way the Lord gives it to me.” That’s good advice from the oldest woman according to the Guinness Book of world Records.

Are we living the day as the Lord gives it to us? The time is at hand, the harvest is ripe, and the workers are few. Let us not be slack as we look forward to the soon coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. “Make haste, my beloved, and be thou like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of spices.” (Song 8:14) “He who testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen, Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” (Rev. 22:20) Ah, to be working for the Lord in these times is most exciting. The Lord Jesus is most gracious! “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.” Amen.” (Revelation 22:21)

Frank Sreter, Veronika Kiss, and I covet your prayers. Please pray for Paul, as he is now a full time missionary, no longer working for Polaroid Corporation.

We give thanks to the Lord Jesus for this most needed ministry and for allowing us to serve Him thru it! Thank you for all the prayers and support that are being offered up for the peoples of Hungary and for the ministry of Jo Hir. May the Lord Jesus Christ richly bless you!

Szeretettel (with love) in Christ,

  Frank Sreter & Paul Meehan

Ministry Trip – Hungary
September/October 2004

I walked into Logan Airport, Boston, MA, in route to Hungary, the line at the ticket counter for Lufthansa was a mile long, computers were not working, they were using an older system that was very slow, thus the very long line. It took two hours to reach the ticket counter. As a result of the computer problem all planes were late in departing.  I met two men, in line, who were in route to India for business and I was able to share the gospel with them. One seemed very interested while the other did not. Please pray for the Word that was shared, that it sank deep into their hearts, and for others who may have been listening.

The plane finally Left Logan Airport at 8:15PM, about an hour later then scheduled. The plane ride was insignificant other then trying to sleep and not getting too much. Seats were cramped in economy class. I was able to do some reading.

Arrived in Munich Germany late the next day, rescheduled my connecting flight which arrived in Hungary at 12:50PM. While waiting for the connecting flight in Munich, I had a long conversation with Ernie, his wife, and their children about the Lord Jesus. Please pray for them as they appear to be embracing eastern religions.   Upon arriving in Budapest I was very tired but wanted to do some shopping to pick up a few things needed for the conference, on Friday, at Word of Life Camp in Tolamas. I was able to add some great stuff to my Illusions from a local magic store. The owner a very old man, Figaro Bűvésybolt, once a world renowned illusionist, was eager to teach me many new things that I am sure will be of use in the ministry.  While learning new tricks I was able to share the gospel with the owner & his son. Please pray. I picked up a few other odds and ends and then returned to Dob Utca, (Dob Street), and crashed for some much needed sleep at 8:00PM. I awoke at midnight, was not able to sleep, so I went to work getting ready for the international youth leaders conference at Word of Life Camp.

Please pray. The conference at WOL camp was great. I met Dr. Larry Moyer of EvanTell of whose tract, May I Ask You A Question, was recently translated by Jo Hir. Larry was told many years ago that he would never be a public speaker because of a speech impediment and yet he is an excellent speaker and loves to evangelize. (When I first met him I mentioned that I did not recognize his accent!!!) The Lord is gracious! In attendance at the conference were missionaries from Czech Republic, Poland, Rumania, Transylvania, Ukraine, Hungary, and Slovakia.  I was able to share the Word and do many of my illusions on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There were leaders there from all over the eastern block countries... It was quite an experience with the many different languages represented.  Jó Hir had a book table at the conference. WOL is thankful for this much needed service.

I spoke to Alex Kónya, Director of WOL Hungary, regarding three books he desires to have pubblished. A Christian Counselors Manual, Not By Chance, and The House That God Built. The last two books mentioned are about Word of Life coming into existence along with how WOL Hungary came to be. Please pray that the Lord will provide.

My schedule also included preaching the Word at several prisons, (Baracska, Kozma, Dk. Bibliaóra, Vác, Márianosztra, Nagy Ignác, and Gyorskocsi), throughout Hungary. This was a huge encouragement to me to be able to share God’s Word to those who have nothing. Two of the prisons were former Catholic Monasteries. Most of the prisons are very poor with conditions that leave a lot to be desired. I was told the prisoners are usually very noisy at some of the prisons I spoke at. This was not the case when I spoke and the organizers were amazed at the quietness. As I was sharing God’s Word I saw many wiping their eyes. I am certain God’s Word has sunk deep down within them.  Please pray! For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

I shared God’s Word to a group of high school and college age kids. I have brought many object lessons and illusions to help with the ministry. (Only one was damaged in the flight to Hungary). The Lord has opened many doors and has been gracious to me in allowing His Word to go forth thru my lips. I am so very humbled and thankful for this opportunity to be able to share the Word of the Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray!

I was able to minister the Word at East Side Bible Chapel on three different occasions to both kids and adults.

Please pray. Living Hope Foundation and the Living Hope Assembly seem to have a special place in my heart. I was able to share the Word to the kids & adults. I sometimes have difficulty separating the kids from the adults. J Living Hope Foundation has a great ministry to the homeless, to those who have just been released from prison, and to orphans who do not have a home. I spent much time with the director of this ministry, Jóska Szabó, and we have become good friends.

Please pray. I must say the main thrust of my ministry, Jó Hir Literature Mission, lies in the translation of Gospel literature and the effort to get it into the hands of the people. All our literature is given away free of cost or is sold below our costs. The people of Hungary are very poor and sometimes it is a matter of buying a book or putting food on the table.

Books we hope to publish soon are: Ephesians commentary, by J. Vernon McGee, Jewish Doctor’s Meet the Great Physician, He Leadeth Me, by CW Slemming.

Please pray. The Friday before I left Hungary, I was able to share the Word to a large group of people (40/50) at Család Epres’ home in Szárny. Many tears were shed as God’s Word went forth. Most of this group were not Christians. There was one man who was very upset to hear that I was coming to preach. He showed up at the meeting and after hearing God’s Word, left the meeting with tears in his eyes.

Please pray. There are many homeless in Hungary who pass out flyers at the tram, bus, and underground stations. These stations are always crowded with many people going to & fro. Many just walk by and do not take a flyer. I began to load my pockets with tracks and gave one in exchange for their flyer. Many were very thankful I took a flyer and were thankful for the tract. There were some who made it very clear that they did not want to receive the tracts.

Please pray. I was in Hungary for a little over a month. It seemed like I just got to Hungary and I was on my way home again. I plan to return to Hungary on March 9th, 2005 for a period of about three months.

Please pray for Bálint who is the father of Enikő 13 & Bálint 14, Gypsy’s. Their mother left them when they were babies. Enikő and her brother Bálint are begining to roam the streets. They are very poor. They all have made a profession of faith.

Please pray for the saints in Hungary, Éva & Veronika, who help with the work of Jó Hir. It would be very difficult to function without their help.

Please pray for Frank Sreter. Frank, the founder of Jó Hir, was in Hungary for two weeks with me and caught my cold. When making a plane connecting in Germany, on his return flight home, he passed out and was rushed to the hospital. He appears to be OK at this time but is seeing his heart doctor in an attempt to find out what the problem is. Frank also has some other medical problems. Frank is 84 years of age.

There is so much to pray for….please pray as the Lord leads.

Thoughts:

Romans 14:7For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. 8For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. 9For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

Our Lord never takes measures to make me do what He wants. Sometimes I wish God would master and control me to make me do what He wants, but He will not. And at other times I wish He would leave me alone, and He does not.

“You call Me Teacher and Lord …”—but is He? Teacher, Master, and Lord have little place in our vocabulary. We prefer the words Savior, Sanctifier, and Healer. The only word that truly describes the experience of being mastered is love, and we know little about love as God reveals it in His Word. The way we use the word obey is proof of this. In the Bible, obedience is based on a relationship between equals; for example, that of a son with his father. Our Lord was not simply God’s servant—He was His Son. “… though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience …” (Hebrews 5:8).

If we are consciously aware that we are being mastered, that idea itself is proof that we have no master. If that is our attitude toward Jesus, we are far away from having the relationship He wants with us. He wants us in a relationship where He is so easily our Master and Teacher that we have no conscious awareness of it—a relationship where all we know is that we are His to obey.” (Oswald chambers)

“Owe no man anything, but to love one another; for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law of Christ.”  (Romans 13:8)

“Love is not blind……..it sees more, not less. But because it sees more, it is willing to see less.”

May the Lord Jesus continue to bless you beyond measure.  May every thought you have, every deed you do, and every word you speak be a glory and honor to the lord Jesus Christ!

Jer.20:9 “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.”
